Rapunzel (Tangled)
Step 1- Ideas
This is my costume. The biggest problem with this costume will definitely be the crown. Disney released the crown from the movie as a limited edition crown, so there are none available (unless you want to pay 100+ on etsy or ebay). I made my own, realistic crown for about 24$. I couldn't find the materials for the price I wanted at Michaels, so I ordered my parts on Ebay. Shop around, find what you like. I'm going to be doing a more, shall we say, flirtatious version of this than a long sleeve, long skirt dress, but I will stick to the original as much as possible.

Step 2-Plan
Plan for this Outfit:
Hair: Braided w/ Flowers Crown: Teardrop crown (Make) If you don't have time/ want to make the crown, use a ring of flowers. I made the tutorial as non-crafter friendly as I could, so don't let that stop you. Top: Purple corset with pink ribbon (buy) Arms: Puffy Sleeves (make) Bottoms: Tutu with spandex underneath (Make or Buy) Tights: White Lace (buy) Shoes: Barefoot or Sandals (have) Pascal: Bennie Baby (have) Props: Frying Pan |
Step 3- Time to start Making
Project 1: Crown
The crown presents huge problems if you want to be authentic. You can probably get away with some cheap store bought crown, but if you want the crown from Tangled, you either have to shell out 200$ or more on Etsy or make your own. I opted with the second choice. I found an okay tutorial (http://tracyscostumingworld.weebly.com/making-disney-rapunzel-wig-and-tiara.html). However, all her links were in the U.K. and her steps were confusing. I decided to make my own version. Step by step instructions are in the pop out tab labeled "Tangled Crown" at the top of the page.

Project 2: Flower Pins
Project 3: Pascal
I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted a Pascal. Sure he was cute and a part of Tangled, but I didn't want to spend money or a huge amount of time to make him. Luckily I found a low cost, low work solution.
