Belle
Step 1-IDeas
|
For Belle, I chose to do her golden ball gown, considering it was the most iconic one. I don't have a dress with rushing like hers, so I am going to convert an old bridesmaid's dress I picked up at Goodwill for 10$. I am not very good at sewing, so I didn't attempt to make it from scratch. I hand stiched the hem and am going to hand stich the gathers and the shawl.

Step 2-Plan
Plan for this outfit:
Hair: Belle Style with yellow ribbon & curl (buy) Arms: Yellow or white long silk gloves Outfit: Yellow Prom Dress (Buy and modify) Shoulder coverings (convert) Underskirt: Petticoat or white tutu (attached to the dress or buy) Shoes: Yellow heels (Have or buy) Props: Book or rose (Have/ Buy) |
Step 3- Time to Start Making
Project 1- Dress Conversion
I bought this old prom dress from Goodwill for 10$. I converted it into belles dress. It is a strapless golden tulle, probably used as a bridesmaid's dress. The best time of year for dress shopping is in the spring, because by the time fall comes in a lot of people take the good stuff to make costumes. Plus after prom season there is usually a good selection. When choosing a dress, try to get it to fit as close as possible, but don't worry if it doesn't fit completely. Mine is a little small, so I added grommets and a lace up section in the back.
This project has many layers and components to it, so see the sub section fro this page for further details. |
